Winter Check Over

Winter is Here! Is your vehicle prepared?

Whether you’re putting winter boots onto your ski-hill machine or tucking your baby in for a long winter nap, let us help you prepare for winter.

We offer winter tire and wheel packages to fit most Volkswagen’s, can install both inline coolant heaters and oil pan heaters, and can perform a pre-winter inspection of your vehicle to make sure you won’t be stuck out in the cold.

If you’re storing your car for winter we recommend putting it away with a fresh oil change to ensure that the correct additives are there to aid the engine as the temperature drops. We also recommend filling the tank with fresh fuel if the vehicle will be stored for the winter.

A few words of warning now that the cold weather is here. If you notice that your car’s windows are frosty, avoid opening them. We all know how nice it is to have the convenience of stopping at the Tim’s drive-thru, but trying to open a frozen window can cause damage to the window, the window regulator and the electric motor that powers the window. The same can be said for sunroofs and windshield wipers. If they are frozen its likely (not every case) that attempting to use them can cause damage.

All winter tires must:

According to ICBC your vehicle must have…

3.5 mm tread
Tires must have 3.5 mm of tread remaining to be considered winter tires. Tires that are worn have reduced traction and should not be used in winter weather.
Matching winter tires
You must have at least 2 matching winter tires on the primary drive axle, but we recommend using 4 matching tires on the four outside corners of the vehicle – even when driving a 4X4 vehicle. Mixing tires with different tread patterns, internal construction and size compromises stability, and should be avoided.
